Product Data
Product Introduction
Blind flanges are used to close the end of a piping system or vessel. JIS B2220 and JIS B2238 are Japanese Industrial Standards that specify the dimensions and pressure ratings of blind flanges.
Dimensions
Size: 10A to 1500A
Facing: Raised Face (RF), Flat Face (FF), Ring Type Joint (RTJ), and Tongue and Groove (TG)
Pressure Rating: 5K, 10K, 16K, 20K, 30K, 40K
The pressure rating of blind flanges under JIS B2220 and JIS B2238 standards range from 5K to 40K, depending on the size and facing type of the flange.
Application Scope
Blind flanges are used in a wide range of applications, including:
- Closing the end of a piping system or vessel
- Providing access for inspection or maintenance
- Temporarily closing off a pipeline during construction or repair work
- Closing off unused or redundant branches of a piping system
Advantages
- They are easy to install and remove
- They can be used in a wide range of applications
- They can be made from a variety of materials to suit different environments and applications
- They can be designed to withstand high pressure and temperature conditions
Disadvantages
- They can create dead ends in the piping system, which can cause flow turbulence and pressure drops
- They can be difficult to remove if they are welded to the pipeline
- They can create additional weight and space requirements in the piping system
- They may require periodic maintenance to ensure proper sealing and prevent leaks.
